Four Trulaske students complete premier AT &T partnership course

At the beginning of the Spring 2020 semester, four Trulaske College of Business students joined 15 students from colleges across campus for an intensive course spawned from a partnership between Mizzou and AT &T. These students were tasked with researching ways 5G — the fifth generation of technology standard for cellular networks — can be applied to one of four industries: health care, sports, campus safety and higher education.

Remote Teaching and Learning During a Time of Crisis

As a global pandemic shifted Trulaske classes to remote delivery, new challenges and opportunities presented themselves for both remote teaching and learning. There is no one-size-fits-all model or format for success as faculty have transitioned their classes to accommodate social distancing mandates; teaching methods and styles are as varied as the subjects being taught. Despite these differences, a common theme of support has emerged and is translated into the remote learning experience in a variety of creative and thoughtful ways.

For the Students: Support in the Age of Global Pandemic

Community support and resiliency can be a formidable force, capable of achieving the seemingly impossible in the wake of a crisis. The efforts put forth by faculty and staff of the Trulaske College of Business to support students during the COVID-19 pandemic have been no exception. From reaching out personally to students on an individual and ongoing basis, to celebrating student successes, the effort has been enormous and appreciated. Here are just a few highlights that have emerged during this time:

Experiential learning continues in the online environment

When the COVID-19 pandemic sent many students home and University of Missouri classes went online for the remainder of the spring semester, faculty and staff of the Trulaske College of Business found new ways to continue to deliver an experiential learning experience to students across the college. Graduate programs move remote For graduate students in the execMBA program, this meant taking the April residency online. This wasn’t a challenge because the execMBA program is already 75% online.

Trulaske awards six Citation of Merits, three recent alumni awards

The Trulaske College of Business awarded six of one of its top honors, the Citation of Merit, to five alumni and one additional longtime supporter of the college. Each spring, the Trulaske College of Business recognizes influential and successful members of its community with a luncheon held on campus. Unfortunately, the 2020 event was cancelled due to social distancing orders in place in Boone County and throughout Missouri.

Trulaske co-hosts virtual Teaching Excellence Day

Among the changes to the university landscape during the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the most evident is the use of remote technology to enable people to gather while maintaining social distancing. For many university events, city and state stay-at-home orders mean cancelling gatherings that are traditionally held in person. But one event co-hosted by the Trulaske College of Business, the MU Sinclair School of Nursing and the MU Teaching for Learning Center transitioned to an online format.
