Five Trulaske entrepreneur teams advance to Mizzou EQ finals

The Trulaske College of Business saw wide representation at the second Entrepreneur Quest (EQ) Student Accelerator program pitch competition. Five of the 11 entrepreneurial pitches advancing to the next round were presented by Trulaske students. These students will participate in several workshop and entrepreneurial pitch sessions before presenting again at another pitch competition in March.

FRI welcomes new leadership

Sarah B. Kent joined the Trulaske College of Business in March as the new vice director of the Financial Research Institute (FRI). As vice director, Kent oversees Trulaske’s research center that focuses on the service areas of finance. Through its public utilities division, the FRI has become a central resource for discussion among those in the public utility sector and about public utility policies. She works with the FRI advisory board, on which the members of 18 states’ public utilities commissions serve.

Paying it forward: Trulaske alumna creates scholarship for kindness

The business world is no stranger to buzzwords or jargon. As current and future leaders of industry, Mizzou business students, faculty and alumni appropriately throw around their fair share. However, thanks to the thoughtful generosity of one Trulaske College of Business alumna, the business community has one more key term to add to its repertoire – kindness.

Allen Angel fund seeks to finalize deals with new investment ventures

During Fall 2019, the Allen Angel Capital Education Fund (AACE) evaluated around 70 companies and heard 20 of them pitch investment from the fund. AACE invests real capital into startups across the Midwest and is in the final stages of negotiations with some of the companies they heard from this fall. In October, the team took a trip to St. Louis for educational and deal sourcing purposes. There, they met with BioGenerator, Arch Grants, T-Rex, The Yield Lab, Cultivation Capital and Arch Angels.

Mizzou hosts third industrial-sponsored sales competition

The Trulaske College of Business hosted its third E. & J. Gallo Winery Collegiate Sales Competition on October 24-25 with seven schools represented at the marketing case competition and sales role play competition. Each school was represented two students who presented as a team in the marketing case competition and as individuals in the sales role play competition. An overall award was presented to Western Michigan University.
