Walton Scholars visit with top companies, Trulaske alumni in Chicago

The 23 students of the Walton Scholars program traveled to Chicago October 17-19 visiting downtown locations of several companies, Hireology, Leo Burnett, Morningstar Financial and Google. Students at the opportunity to interact with Trulaske alumni at these companies, including Allie Plantery, BS BA 2014, a senior account executive at Leo Burnett, and Kyle Holtzman, BS BA 2016, a senior account manager at Google and former Walton Scholar.

Heartland Academy scholars stay busy promoting program

In its second year, the students of the Heartland Scholars Academy experienced a busy fall sharing highlights of and promoting the program to Mizzou audiences around the country. In early October, scholar Chela Hernandez-Cain and Sue Engelhardt, who, with her husband Irl, established the Heartland Scholars Academy, joined Dean Ajay Vinze at the Jefferson Club event in St. Louis (pictured above). Vinze, Engelhardt and Hernandez-Cain all spoke about the Heartland Scholars Academy to the group assembled.

Corporate partnership brings real-world data to marketing students

Learning the retail procurement process can be difficult to present with real-world information – many companies do not publicly share the data from their pricing, negotiations, retail planning strategies. This presented a challenge for a course created by Department of Marketing Assistant Teaching Professor Courtney Cothren, MRKTNG 3510: Procurement Processes and Analytics.

Students walk away with prizes, real-world experience in Schnucks case competition

A partnership between St. Louis-based supermarket chain Schnucks Markets, Inc., and the Trulaske College of Business led to a case competition among the 120 students in four Retail Marketing classes offered last fall at Trulaske. Representatives from Schnucks visited Trulaske at the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester to kick off the case study, which sought to find a solution that would elevate the in-store experience for the “modern customer” at Schnucks. Students were tasked with creating a multi-channel strategy to drive guest loyalty and connect with customers.
